One Bike for Life – the Rennstahl 853 Randonneur
The Rennstahl 853 Randonneur follows a long and very successful tradition. The project name of this bike was “One Bike for Life”. And that already says a lot about this bike. The bottom bracket is not as high as on old-style cross-country bikes, which improves road holding at high speeds and brings the center of gravity down without bringing disadvantages off-road. In addition, hydraulic disc brakes provide optimal modulation and deceleration in any situation – whether fully loaded on fast pass descents or when riding in the rain on dusty muddy forest trails. Threaded eyelets for 3 bottle cages make the 853 Randonneur unrestricted long-distance suitable. The in-house luggage racks also contribute to this, and of course a lighting system with completely internally routed light cable.

Details of the Rennstahl 853 Randonneur
The frame features a robust dip coating that seals the frame inside and out and makes it resistant to corrosion. Furthermore, the new Flat-Mount (FM) standard for the brake caliper mounts was used here right from the start. The wide Pressfit bottom bracket shell with BB30 dimensions in the middle allows a wide support of the chainstays on the one hand, but especially a continuous guide of the rear hydraulic lines inside the bottom bracket, without coming into conflict with the shaft.
The tire passage is large enough for up to 622 x 38mm tire width or 584 x 50mm, each in combination with mudguards. Visually as well as technically, the racing steel fork with all its eyelets is the perfect fork for this high-end steel frame. In addition, wheels with SON hub dynamo and a SON lighting system.
